Visit of Prof. Laura De Lorenzis (ETH Zurich)
Prof. Laura De Lorenzis, Professor of Computational Mechanics at ETH Zurich and an internationally recognized expert in computational fracture mechanics, visited IMDEA Materials Institute on July, 10th to deliver a distinguished seminar on recent advances in variational phase-field modeling of cohesive fracture. During her visit, she presented the seminar "Recent Results on Variational Phase-Field Modeling of Cohesive Fracture", highlighting state-of-the-art developments in phase-field approaches for fracture, with particular emphasis on cohesive formulations and their applications to complex failure phenomena.
The seminar brought together researchers, postdoctoral fellows, and PhD students from IMDEA Materials Institute, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Universidad de Castilla La-Mancha and other institutions, fostering stimulating discussions on fracture mechanics, computational modeling, and future research directions. Prof. De Lorenzis' visit provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen scientific interactions within the MORE network and promote collaboration in advanced computational mechanics.
